1. Big Box vs LaunchBox

LaunchBox is a gaming library front end by Unbroken Software. Omega uses LaunchBox to organize and run your games. Big Box is a special version of LaunchBox designed for larger screens. When Omega loads and the startup video finishes, you end up at the Big Box main wheel. When a user wants to organize games they use LaunchBox. When a user wants to play games, they use Big Box.

2. Big Box Overview

When your EHA Omega machine loads, it automatically loads Big Box and plays a startup video. Allow the startup video to play for 30 seconds so Big Box can fully load. After 30 seconds, push any button to stop the video and reach the Big Box main wheel.

3. Big Box Basic Commands

Below are the key Big Box commands. Note: P1 = Player 1, P2 = Player 2.

• Move Up/Down in Menu — Push UP or DOWN on P1's Joystick
• Select an Option / Move Forward — Push P1's START Button
• Move Backwards in Menu — HOLD P1's START Button/[SHIFT] then Press P2's START Button
• Exit/Quit a Game — HOLD P1's START/[SHIFT] then Press P2's START Button
• Add Credits — Press the $ (Credit/Coin) Button for each player
• Start a Game — Press P1, P2, P3, or P4's START Buttons
• Exit Big Box to Windows Desktop — HOLD P1's START/[SHIFT] and Press P2's START multiple times until Big Box Unified screen, then navigate to Exit
• Shut Down/Reboot — Reach Big Box Unified screen, select Shut Down or Reboot
• Game Emulator Settings & Favorites — Navigate to a game without loading it, then Press P1's Credit/Coin button ($)
• Search by Letter — Press P1's Joystick LEFT or RIGHT at a game wheel
• Global Search — Press P2's CREDIT button at the Main Wheel
• System-Wide Pause/Reset — HOLD P1's START/[SHIFT] and Press P1's Joystick DOWN
• MAME Player Menu (mapping) — HOLD P1's START/[SHIFT] and Push P1's Joystick RIGHT. NEVER change "Input (general)" — always use "Input (this Machine)"
• Restart a ROM (MAME only) — HOLD P1's START/[SHIFT] and Push P1's Joystick LEFT

4. Big Box Main Menu Wheels

Popular subwheels include: Arcade Classics (MAME), MAME 4-Player Games, Favorites, TeknoParrot, Sinden Light Gun, IR Light Guns, Racing Games, Time Crisis, PC Games, Xbox/PlayStation, Nintendo Systems, and Adult Wheel.

Note: Load light gun games through the IR Light Gun Wheel or Sinden Light Gun Wheel for correct mapping.

Favorites

To mark a game as a Favorite: navigate to a game (don't load it), press P1's Credit/Coin button ($), then navigate to "Favorite" and press P1's START Button.

Turning Off the Adult Wheel

Go to the Big Box Unified screen, navigate to "Omega Settings," then toggle the "Adults-Only Wheel" setting.

Active Marquee Settings

In Omega Settings you can configure marquee resolution (typically 1920 wide), stretch, and vertical alignment. Navigate to "Apply Setting and Exit" when done. You must reboot for changes to take effect.

Sound Settings

From the Big Box Unified screen, navigate to Unlock, enter 1 1 1 1, then go to Options > Sound to toggle sound settings. See also: Big Box sounds tutorial video.
